The Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Youth Ministry (PHYouth) exists to foster loving relationships and nurture Disciples of Christ, in order that youth and families of Pleasant Hill UMC may reach out in service to others.  It is designed for students from 6th through 12th Grade.

PHYouth
PHYouth is the middle and high school ministry of Pleasant Hill UMC. We meet during the school year on Sundays from 5:00-7:00PM for PHYouth.  For a “standard” PHYouth meeting. We have our evening broken up into 4-30minute sections:
5-5:30 – Dinner in the Family Life Center
5:30-6 – Game/Icebreaker/Intro
6-6:30 – Lesson
6:30-7 – Discipleship groups
Our current theme for PHYouth sessions is Discipleship.  We are looking at what it means to be a disciple and what it actually is that disciples do (ex: forgive, love, show Christ, etc).  We discuss this topic as a large group and then break out into small groups to get a more intimate conversation on the topics presented that night
Retreats and Missions
Our youth ministry has 3 major trips that we take each year.  In November the youth go on our Fall Retreat, which is lead by our youth staff, for a weekend in the mountains.  Typically, this retreat is held at either Asbury Hills or Look Up Lodge.  This upcoming June 20-25 we head up to Lookup Lodge in Traveler’s Rest for a week.  This retreat is lead by the LookUp Lodge staff, but we (the PHYouth Staff) are there with the students to take part in all of the activities and chapels with the students.  In normal years, our students will take part in one of two Salkehatchie Work Camps.  The choices are North Strand and Columbia Salkehatchie.  Students must be 14 years of age before the start of the camp to participate!
